Our Name
Breken means “break” in Dutch. We opened our doors in early January 2010. We’re located in Portland’s Pearl District, and we offer a wide selection specialty coffee drinks, tea and lots and lots of other drinks, plus handcrafted pastries from our own bakery, as well as a really awesome lunch menu.
Our Mission
The kitchen is such a wonderful gathering place – it’s a place where people naturally come together to talk and laugh, to swap stories, to hang out, to eat and drink, to just be themselves. It’s that spirit – that joie de vivre – that inspires us and motivates us. Come hang out in our kitchen and just be yourself. We think you’re going to love it.
Wherever possible, we strive to use sustainable ingredients from around the Northwest, including locally grown organic produce, beef, poultry and lamb.
Our cafe is open, airy, comfortable and delicious. Think of us when you need to hold a lunch or breakfast meeting, or you want to get a little work done on your own, or you want to meet friends for a coffee or a bite. Take a break! Come on in.
